ON-FINAL NEWS BULLETIN – April 4, 2019 (Vol 39, No. 4)


April UTA alternate dining locations announced
On April 4-7, Tinker Air Force Base Reservists will receive their meals at Golden Corral and in the Bldg. 3001 Cafeteria, during the renovation of the Vanwey Dining Facility. 
Golden Corral, located 617 S. Air Depot Blvd., will serve breakfast and dinner to Reservists April 4-5, and dinner on April 6. 
Aramark, located in Bldg. 3001 Cafeteria on the south end of the building in Area C, will serve breakfast and lunch to Reservists April 6-7. 
Breakfast will be served between 5:30-7:00 a.m., lunch will be served between 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m.


Always ready: Okies welcome November inspection
Reserve Citizen Airmen in the 507th Air Refueling Wing here are scheduled to participate in a unit effectiveness inspection capstone event Nov. 15-19, 2019.
The UEI is designed to provide an independent assessment of four areas in the wing: Resource management, leadership, process improvement efforts and the ability to execute the mission, according to AFI 90-201, The Air Force Inspection System.

507th ARW – We’ve got an App for that
The 507th Air Refueling Wing here in coordination with Air Force Reserve Command launched the new Air Force Connect mobile application March allowing Reservists to access unit information and online tools on the go.
The app, which is available on both iOS and Android platforms, has a main Air Force page and can be customized by adding additional organizations in the favorite’s area. For Reservists here at Tinker AFB, they just need to add the 507th ARW as a favorite to unlock all the local features.

Every Reserve Citizen Airman has a unique story for how or why they started their Air Force career, but in the case of Chief Master Sgt. Takesha Williams, it was the desire to own a car.


Airman from Nigeria attains U.S. citizenship
Airman 1st Class Godspower Igben, 507th Force Support Squadron food operations specialist, attained his U.S. citizenship in an Oklahoma City courthouse Feb. 22, 2019. Igben was raised in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to the U.S. when he was 22 years old. Igben's family members served in the Nigerian military, inspiring him to join the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Wingmen within his unit attended the citizenship ceremony in a show of support as Igben became a U.S. citizen.


Former 349th AMW chief named AFRC Command Chief
The Air Force Reserve Command proudly announces Chief Master Sgt. Timothy C. White will serve as the new Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the Air Force Reserve, Pentagon, Washington D.C. and Command Chief Master Sergeant of Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.

Every UTA, 2019 – Finance hosting travel assistance; sign up via SharePoint link
Financial Management is scheduling members for both RTS and DTS assistance in 30 min. increments starting at 0730 until 1400. Please use the link below to schedule a time. Walk-ins will be helped as usual; however, members who schedule a time will have priority. 

NOTE: Paper Vouchers - Bring all receipts, a copy of orders and completed checklist.   
DTS Vouchers – Scan and upload all receipts and orders to your DTS authorization under “Other Expenses” or “Substantiating Documents”.

Feb. 1 – April 8, 2019 – Enlisted Development registration open
The CY20 Air Force Reserve Enlisted Developmental Education Board (EDEB) will convene 14-18 May 2019 at the Air Reserve Personnel Center, Buckley Air Force Base, CO. The “Invitation to Apply” is available on myPers (https://mypers.af.mil/app/categories/c/549/p/18) and applicants may apply in vPC. Applications are due to ARPC no later than 1630 MT on 8 April 2019; however, applicants are urged to check with their units for local deadlines.

Feb. 26 – Apr. 20, 2019 – Donations and volunteers needed at ‘Great Gown Affair’ 
Donate your gently used evening, prom and special event gowns to raise money for the National Guard Association of Oklahoma. If you have a gown to donate, contact: Edmond Area: Tracy Poindexter, 405-686-5686, or Tulsa Area, Connie Hurt 918-833-7732. Donations will be accepted until the morning of the events. Volunteers are needed to assist at both events!

April 8 – June 24, 2019 – Intramural Bowling League
Time: Mondays at 6:30 p.m. local
Three person teams who represent squadrons or organizations on Tinker Air Force Base are invited to participate. Three game series with handicap based on 90% of 220. $8 per bowler, per week. Sign up by calling the bowling center at 405-734-3484 or in person at the bowling center desk.

April 10, 2019 – Federal Resume Writing Webinar
Time: 10:00 a.m. local
Writing Your Federal Resume: This free virtual (online) presentation will explain each section of the job opportunity announcement (JOA) in an effort to better inform applicants and to assist them in selecting the right job. The presentation highlights a three part process to assist applicants in writing their Federal resume. Attendees will be shown a real JOA and walked through a process that helps them review the JOA to determine qualifications and interest, identify the important requirements and then tailor their resumes with that JOA. Lastly, it will provide a quick overview of the resume builder on USAJOBS.

April 20, 2019 – Eggstravaganza! Tinker Youth Program
Time: 11:00 a.m. local (hunt will start after the countdown at 12:10 p.m.)
The annual event you never want to miss! We're excited to have the Tinker Air Force Base Chapel as a co-sponsor this year! This is a free base-wide egg hunt with more than 30,000 eggs for toddlers, teens and EFMP families to enjoy. Open to anyone with access to Tinker AFB.

April 25, 2019 – FERS Financial Guidance Seminar
Time: 8:00 a.m. local
The FERS Financial Guidance seminar/course is a 4-hour class covering basic FERS benefits, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) contributions, financial/estate planning, debit/credit card reduction and investing for the future. The target audience for this course is FERS employees with 1 to 5 years of service. The goal is to provide earlier education on retirement/investment planning.

Mark your calendars for the 2019 Tinker Air Force Base Star Spangled Salute Air and Space Show, which will feature the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. The event is open to the public and admission is FREE.
