DEFERRED GI BILL TRANSFER

You still have time to transfer the GI Bill to your family. The July 12, 2019 deadline to transfer Post 9/11 benefits for those with more than 16 years time in service (TIS) has been deferred. Contact Senior Master Sgt. Lorena Bolding, DSN 884-7075, Comm (405)734-7075/6672 for more information.

RESERVISTS SHARE HOLIDAY CHEER WITH VETERANS

For the 23rd year in a row, 507th Air Refueling Wing Airmen visited with the residents of the Norman Veterans Center to deliver gifts and spread holiday cheer during their annual Christmas party Dec. 20, 2018, in Norman, Oklahoma.

TINKER RESERVISTS REFUEL TYNDALL F-22 RAPTOR FOLLOWING HURRICANE

Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 507th Air Refueling Wing here played a critical role Nov. 5, 2018, in Hurricane Michael recovery by ensuring one of the repaired F-22 Raptors flew safely from Tyndall AFB, Florida, to Hill Air Force Base’s Ogden Air Logistics Complex, Utah. Maintenance and operations group personnel at Tinker AFB quickly answered Air Mobility Command’s call to provide a critical air refueling capability for ACC’s number one maintenance priority.

LIST OF ELIGIBLE AFSCs FOR CY19 IDT TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT RELEASED (Click link for list)

The list of eligible AFSCs for the CY19 IDT Travel Reimbursement effective Jan. 1, 2019 has been released. Significant Changes for CY19 are as follows: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 eligible members may receive up to $500 in IDT Travel reimbursement per round trip. This is an increase from $300 that was previously authorized. Clarification: Members are authorized reimbursement for up to 12 round trips per calendar year. This is an annual limitation only. Reimbursement is authorized for multiple round trips in a given month. HQ AFRC POC is SMSgt Kenneth S. Plummer, HQ AFRC/A1KK, DSN 497‐0285.

 

UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE CHANGES

Effective Jan. 1, 2019, the Military Justice Act of 2016 will instate the most reform to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and Manual for Courts-Martial in decades, modernizing dated aspects of the military justice system while also providing transparency. Among its major reforms, the Act will establish fixed numbers of members for courts-martial, expand judge-alone sentencing, expand the opportunity for convicted service members to appeal their convictions and require most court-martial documents be made publicly accessible under a system similar to those used in civilian criminal justice systems. Additionally, the Act adds some new offenses such as retaliation against a person for reporting or planning to report a crime, fraudulent use of credit cards and debit cards and sexual activity between military members in a position of trust and specially protected junior members.

ARL SAFE NEW FILE EXCHANGE SITE

The AMRDEC SAFE site was disabled as a preventative measure after agencies outside of AMRDEC identified potential security risks. Going forward, our new alternative for DoD employees for sending large documents containing PII is called ARL SAFE.  Access the site here- https://safe.arl.army.mil/.

 

MY AIR FORCE BENEFITS HELPDESK HOTLINE (703) 286-2560

My Air Force Benefits is sponsoring a full-time help desk with live operator support for all military benefits-related questions, including retirement calculations.  SBP counselors, Airmen of all components (active, Guard and Reserve) as well as their family members are encouraged to call (703) 286-2560 to speak with a military benefits specialist.  The help desk is open Monday-Friday, 0900-1700 ET.  Retirement calculations, available under the Final Pay, High-3 Legacy or Blended Retirement System (BRS), can be calculated with the assistance of a benefits specialist.  Callers should have the following information available in order to accurately prepare a retirement calculation: 1. Date of current rank 2. Current points (for Reserve or Guard members) 3. Point Credit Summary Date (For Reserve or Guard) 4. DIEMS/ DIEUS (Date of Initial Entry into Military Service/Date) 5. TAFMS (Total Active Federal Military Service Date) 6. PEBD (Pay Entry Base Date or Pay Date) 7. Anticipated retirement date

 

HONORARY COMMANDER SET TO VISIT THE WING JAN. 9

Mr. Trent Latshaw, the 507th Air Refueling Wing Honorary Commander will visit our unit on January 9, 2019. Mr. Latshaw is the president of Latshaw Drilling and an aviation enthusiast who owns multiple aircraft and flew with us during our last honorary commander orientation flight. The purpose of his visit is to foster solid relationships between our senior leaders and central Oklahoma community and business leaders.

 

ONCE AN OKIE, ALWAYS AN OKIE: HISTORY OF RESERVE AIRMEN AT TINKER

U.S. Air Force Reserve units served at Tinker Air Force Base dating back to June 1946, when they were still part of the Army Air Forces. Since that time, Air Force Reserve units on base have flown bombers, trainers, transports, fighters and now command and control and aerial refueling aircraft….
