Major Sivert receives Meritorious Service Medal

Major Dennis R Sivert of the 507th Logistics Readiness Squadron, recently received an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal during a 507th Air Refueling Wing assembly.

The citation read during the award presentation cited Major Sivert for his outstanding achievement as Operations Officer, 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, 455th Expeditionary Mission Support Group, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.

During combat conditions, Major Sivert led 176 Airmen in the execution of logistics operations associated with the successful launch of over 17,000 combat sorties and employment of 700 bombs in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. His oversight of the third busiest fuels flight in United States Air Forces Central Command, which distributed over 37 million gallons of aviation fuel and 20,000 gallons of cryogenics, and his efforts to enhance the operations of a 130 million dollar Type III fuel system by allowing access to four fill stands, was pivotal to the sustainment of combat operations in Afghanistan.

In support of the wing's base operation support, he was essential to achieving an average 89 perfect vehicle in commission rate and improving the 24 hour vehicle maintenance turnaround time by 28 percent, enabling uninterrupted airfield operations. Additionally, Major Sivert aided in maintenance facilities worth 1.5 million dollars, providing an efficient work environment for maintenance operations. Finally, his oversight in supply transactions, which included the movement of delayed mission capable parts in direct support of F-15E, F-16, C-130, and HH-60 aircraft.
