171st Successfully Tests LAIRCM System
The 171st Air Refueling Wing tested the Large Aircraft Infrared Counter Measures (LAIRCM) Gen 3 missile defense system here on May 25, 2018. The LAIRCM is designed to protect the KC-135 Stratotanker and other aircraft from surface-launched Infrared (IR) guided missiles.

Reservists support LAIRCM testing at Eglin AFB
A KC-135 Stratotanker from the 507th Air Refueling Wing here returned Dec. 4, 2017, from Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, following testing of the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures system recently installed on the aircraft.
