Major Jack D. Spencer, an Air Force Reservist with the 507th Air Refueling Wing Legal Office, recently received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal.

According to his citation, the major distinguished himself while serving an extendided active duty tour assigned to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center and the 507th ARW.

Among other accomplishments, he volunteered for numerous extended duty tours supporting critically short manned legal offices throughout the Air Force, as well as serving a short notice Operation IRAQI FREEDOM deployment to Camp Victory, Iraq. As a direct result of his outstanding officership, the tremendous backlog of detainee cases awaiting review was significantly reduced.

Major Spencer again volunteered for extended tours of duty assisting Dover Air Force Base, Robins Air Force Base, and Tinker Air Force Base legal offices when they were critically under-manned, thus enabling them to continue the mission as active duty lawyers deployed forward.
