Airman Bowen chosen for top AFRC personnel award

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Oklahoma --  Senior Airman Fumiko Bowen of the 507th Mission Personnel Flight has been recognized by the Air Force Reserve Command as Personnel Airman of the Year.

Senior Airman Bowen is the 507th MPF Assistant Chief of Career Enhancement. During the award period, she managed all enlisted promotions for the 507th ARW and 513th ACG, reviewing and processing more than 70 promotions.

Airman Bowen personally uploaded more than 1,000 overdue enlisted performance report information shells in vPC-GR to suspense unit, resulting in a decrease of wing overdue rates by 20 percent. As the wing program manager overseeing sub missions to the Command and Numbered Air Force Promotion Enhancement Boards she produced the fantastic results of helping 6 technical sergeants., two master sergeants and one senior master sergeants being promoted.

A pivotal Personnel Support for Contingency Operations (PERSCO) team member, she actively participated in three group exercises developing critical skills for deployments. She diligently worked two real-world deployment lines for the 513 ACG, processing 50 members with no write-ups and everyone deployed on-time.

An excellent briefer, Airman Bowen briefed more than 500 wing personnel on a new evaluation process to ensure smooth transition. She helped in-process more than 240 Airmen into the wing, briefing them on promotion, EPR, and participation policies.
Airman Bowen served as a base point of contact to gather escorts for the 2009 Tinker AF Ball be recruiting and leading 15 active duty and reserve volunteers.

She is actively involved with her local church where she has volunteered and supported several food drives. She helped collect and donate more than 100 clothing items to Salvation Army and Goodwill organizations and is actively involved in Air Force community, attending the 2009 Woman's in Aviation Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
