Tinker reservists set to deploy to Southwest Asia Published July 28, 2010 By Tech. Sgt. Zach Jacobs 507th Air Refueling Wing July 28, 2010 -- More than 40 reserve Airmen from the 507th Civil Engineer Squadron are scheduled to deploy to Southwest Asia in August. Master Sgt. Wendy Ellyson, the management assistant for the 507 CES, said two groups of Airmen will deploy on a combat mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Ellyson said the first group, consisting of 26 enlisted reservists, was activated on July 18 and is scheduled to leave July 31 for 22 days of combat skills training, or CST, at Fort McCoy, Wisc. They will deploy to Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, immediately after completing CST. Ellyson also said the second group, made up of 14 enlisted reservists and one reserve officer, is scheduled to be activated on Aug. 14 and to deploy on Aug. 23 to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq, and 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia. This group will not attend CST, said Ellyson. Ellyson added that although the deployments are scheduled for six months, the 507 CESÂ will not deploy alone. She said that other reserve Airmen from Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., will deploy together with those from the 507th CES. Master Sgt. Daniel Bostwick, the squadron emergency management flight supervisor, said that the 507th Airmen will perform operations, electrical, power production, HVAC, utilities and structural duties. Bostwick said that this is the third time for the 507 CES to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, adding that they deployed in 2008 and 2006 on similar missions.
