Major von Buelow receives Meritorious Service Medal Published Oct. 3, 2011 507th Air Refueling Wing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Oklahoma -- Major Michael von Buelow of the 507th Maintenance Squadron, recently received an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal during a 507th Air Refueling Wing assembly. The citation read during the award presentation cited Major von Buelow for his outstanding professional skill, leadership and ceaseless efforts which contributed to the effectiveness and success of maintenance group programs. As the lead officer for the maintenance squadron, Major von Buelow fervently dedicated his time and efforts to secure compliant programs and processes that supported a record-setting year for the 507th Air Refueling Wing with 1,275 sorties, 4,591 flying hours, and 14.5 million pounds of fuel off-loaded to 1,495 receivers. With concentrated attention to detail and a steady strategy, the unit reaped several commencing honors from Major von Buelow's efforts; such as the first unit in Air Force Reserve Command to have a passing Crash Damaged Disabled Aircraft Recovery program. Equally notable was the squadron's overall "Outstanding" rating during the July 2010 Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection, earning the wing's highest, nearly perfect, 99 percent score, directly contributing to the group's overall "Outstanding" rating. Additionally Major von Buelow's unwavering dedication to the success of the maintenance group was recognized by the awarding of the 4th Air Force Lieutenant General Leo Marquez Award for Excellence, which in turn captured the 507th Maintenance Group the Chief Master Sergeant James K. Clouse Trophy for the most outstanding Reserve aircraft maintenance unit, a first for a Reserve-Guard associate organization.
