507th ARW names quarterly award enlisted winners

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --  The 507th Air Refueling Wing named Senior Airman Casey J. Cleveland, Tech. Sgt. Juan C. Escobar and Master Sgt. Jared M. Colvard the top Airman, noncommissioned officer and senior NCO, respectively, for 2011's fourth quarter.

Senior Airman Casey J. Cleveland, an aircraft mechanic and crew chief, was named Airman of the Quarter. Cleveland contributed greatly to two aircraft during periodic inspections fly without issues on their maiden flights. Cleveland also had an excellent
track record as a maintenance technician, achieving zero quality assurance inspection defects in 15 months of flights on his aircraft.

Additionally, Cleveland was his squadron's crew chief of the month for two consecutive months, and was hand-picked to attend a special luncheon here during Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Roy's visit to Tinker Air Force Base. Cleveland also took part in numerous squadron-, group- and wing-level activities, ranging from escorting and proffering in change of command ceremonies to leading physical training sessions for his fellow maintainers and heading up a martial arts class at a forward deployed location.

Tech. Sgt. Juan Escobar, an aircrew flight equipment specialist with the 507th Operations Support Flight, was named NCO of the quarter. Escobar focused on training Airmen, both in and out of his military unit. He trained Tinker Air Force Base flight surgeons on combat and water survival techniques; maintained a 100 percent training readiness rating for more than 160 Airmen across three separate units; and provided KC-135 Stratotanker egress training for 80 base firefighters.

Escobar's focus on training extended to his own career, as he recertified for water survival training and completed an Air Force aircraft accident investigation course. He also gave of his time outside of his duty hours, volunteering with the local Patriot Guard
chapter to commemorate fallen military members, as well as serving with Habitat for Humanity and as a Venture Team assistant.

Master Sgt. Jared M. Colvard, an air transportation journeyman with the 72nd Aerial Port Squadron, was named Senior NCO of the quarter. As a team chief of 24 troops, Colvard led his team to airlift 1,830 passengers and 362 tons of cargo over 105 missions with a
98.7% departure reliability rate. During a ramp saturation situation, Colvard led the loading of seven aircraft with 64 tons of cargo in less than 90 minutes.  Colvard also received and inspected hazardous cargo, sig service, Air Materiel Command mission-critical aircraft parts and other cargo with 100% accountability.

Colvard also took part in Operation NORTHERN EDGE, enhancing interoperability
between more than 6,000 Air Force and Army troops. Colvard completed an 80-hour hazardous materials inspector course with a 99% grade average. A community contributor, Colvard volunteered at the Oklahoma State Fair to reunite lost children with
their parents, rescuing 22 children in all. He also put in 16 hours per month as part of an "Adopt-a-Street" cleanup team, helping to ensure a safe and clean community.
