Twelve Airmen from the 507th Air Refueling Wing supported an international aeromedical evacuation mission earlier this year.

Five aircrew and seven maintenance personnel deployed from Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., flying three round-trip missions between Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, from March 12 to 27.

Lt. Col. Thomas Hudnall, commander of the 465th Air Refueling Squadron, said the deployment resulted in excellent operational work for operations and maintenance Airmen.

"The mission focus was evident in all deployed members and enabled the successful accomplishment of the tasking," said Hudnall.

Hudnall said the Airmen overcame many difficulties, both technical and administrative, to carry out their mission successfully.  According to an after-actions report, the 465th ARS crew flew three round-trip missions into Afghanistan and transported 49 critical care patients; transported one member on emergency leave and 39 space-available passengers; carried 18,000 pounds of cargo; and flew 12 sorties for more than 64 hours, of which more than 41 were combat hours.

Hudnall, Captains Adam Steichen and Richard Spooner, Master Sgt. Chaz Dalton and Staff Sgt. Matthew Tompkins were the aircrew members. The maintenance crew members were Master Sgt. Ronald Huggins, Tech. Sgts. Christopher Howell and Dustin Staude and Staff Sgt. Ryan Mullings.
