Senior Master Sgt. Michael Knight, an Air Force Reservist with the 507th Air Refueling Wing, has received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal.

Knight distinguished himself while assigned to the 72d Aerial Port Squadron. During his forward deployment as the Superintendent of the Aerial Port Flight, 24th Air Expeditionary Group, Joint Task Force Haiti, in Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE, his key leadership of 54 transporters, 6 command post troops and 10 maintenance members was critical to downloading and servicing aircraft from over 35 countries and 100 civilian agencies, creating an airlift lifeline delivering thousands of relief workers and 1.2 million pounds of life saving aid.

Knight also oversaw command and control of 20 billion dollars of military assets critical in establishing 6 tent cities and 12 aid stations, providing care to 9 million Haitians.
