TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Reservists and their families at Tinker are scheduled to visit the Norman Veteran’s Center at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 22 to celebrate the holidays with our nation’s heroes.

Everyone is invited to join the 21st Annual Angel Tree party celebration and to help reach the goal of raising $1200 for the Veterans’ field trip fund before the Dec. 19 deadline.

There are three ways to contribute to the Angel Tree party: Attending the party, making a donation, or sponsoring a veteran.

Staff Sgt. Talisa Edmundson, water and fuel systems maintenance technician with the 507th Civil Engineer Squadron, attended for the first time last year and plans to return every holiday season.

“It was a great honor to hear their stories and to hear about their happiest moments in life as well as saddest moments,” Edmundson said. “I enjoyed making them laugh and feel appreciated.”

All 20 Vets who filled out wish lists have been sponsored this year, but the center is still collecting donations for the veteran’s field trip fund.

The staff uses the donations to take the men and women at the center to see sporting events and various attractions around the metro area to give them a break from their daily routine at the center.

Last year, Reserve units at Tinker raised more than $600 for the Vets field trip fund, and more than 20 Reservists and their families joined the Vets for the Angel Tree party.

If you would like to donate or attend the party, please contact TSgt Lauren Gleason in the 507th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office at Lauren.gleason.2@us.af.mil or at 405-734-3078.
